PINE GROVE — Solar Innovations Inc. received its latest patent earlier this month for a new folding glass wall system.

The hybrid marine and stop glazing system is the narrowest, four-sided glazed door on the market and is available for pivoting, stacking, swinging and folding-door units.

“Our design maximizes views by reducing bulky framing members to minimize view interruptions and ultimately create a clearer view and better user experience,” Greg Header, Solar Innovations CEO, said in a statement prepared March 21.

Traditional glass is held in place by aluminum glazing stops located on all four sides of the glass, according to the company. But in a marine glazed system, the glass extends into the left and right framing members, eliminating the need for glass stops at the vertical frames.

The system was born out of a 2014 project in Allentown. General contractor Shane Patrick Associates Inc., Allentown, contacted Solar Innovations for a project to convert an 18th century Pennsylvania Dutch Barn into a house and classic car display now called the Allentown Classic Motorcar Auto Park.

The design for the project needed to maintain the simplicity and elegance of the barn while providing large openings for moving cars in and out of the large barn, as well as unobstructed interior and exterior views, according to Solar Innovations.

The vertical members separating each folding panel are only 2 3/4 inches wide, which are the narrowest vertical sight lines in the industry, according to the company.

Solar Innovations is a custom manufacturer of residential and commercial sliding, folding and stacking glass walls, doors, windows and screens, conservatories, sunrooms, greenhouses, skylights and curtain walls. The company has more than 150 employees and has posted at least a 25 percent annual growth rate since its inception.

The company has also started a campaign called “Solar Cares.” For every “like” the Solar Innovations Facebook page receives by May 1, the company will donate $0.50 to the Hillside SPCA, Ruth Steinert memorial SPCA and Lebanon County Humane Society. The campaign will donate up to $500 split between the three nonprofit organizations.
