Do you know how to prepare for a major flood? How would you react during a paralyzing snow blizzard? The time to think about emergencies and natural disasters is not when they’re occurring. With a little training you can be calmer and better prepared to help yourself, your family and your neighbors in times of crisis.

September is National Preparedness Month and Community Volunteers in Action is partnering with Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency to present an Emergency Preparedness Educational Seminar at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Terence P. Reiley Community Center in Pottsville. The relaxed presentation is free and recommended to individuals, organizations, church groups and others wanting to better understand how to keep themselves and their property safer.

Topics will include learning your local hazards, preparedness planning tips for major weather-related disasters, what to do before, during and after an event, sheltering in place vs. evacuation, recovery, coping and home fire prevention.

Seating is limited so call this office at 570-628-1426 or email to jjohnston@co.schuylkill.pa.us to reserve your seat today.
