n Ashland: Christ’s United Lutheran Church, 437 Airport Road, will have a spaghetti supper from 4 to 7 p.m. May 14 at the church. The cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for children under 6. Meals include spaghetti, meatballs, tossed salad, bread and butter, dessert and beverage. For more information or to make reservations, call 570-875-1591. The church’s Theology on Tap is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mineshaft Café, Centre Street. This will be the last such event of the season as it won’t be held in the summer. Theology on Tap will resume in the fall.

n Deer Lake: The Deer Lake & West Brunswick Fire Company will sponsor bingo games from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at the firehall, 1 Ash Road. Doors will open at 5 p.m. For more information, call 570-366-0152.

n Frackville: The Ancient Order of Hibernians will sponsor “Strictly Oldies Again” beginning at 8 p.m. May 14 at the Frackville Elks Lodge, Third and Arch streets. Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 at the door. Entertainment will be by Too-Shea Sound with disc jockey Tony Brophy. There is no BYOB. For tickets or more information, call 570-874-2455.

n Orwigsburg: The Blue Mountain Eagle Foundation will stage a 5K and fun run from 9 to 11 a.m. June 12 at the Orwigsburg Memorial Building, 300 Grove Street. Early registration for the 5K is $20. All 5K participants will have the opportunity to have a portion of the proceeds go to one of the following scholarships: The Captain Jason B. Jones Memorial Scholarship or the Leslie J. Schoffstall Memorial Scholarship. Jones is a scholar athlete and Blue Mountain graduate. He went on to graduate from West Point and served in the Army as a highly decorated Special Forces Green Beret with multiple deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Schoffstall is a 1979 Blue Mountain graduate and Blue Mountain Sports Hall of Fame member for her track accomplishments. She served for many years as coach for the Blue Mountain track teams. n Minersville: The New Minersville Firehouse Bikers will sponsor the Ride for Sarah beginning at 10:30 a.m. May 21 at the firehouse, 500 Line St. The cost is $20 for riders and $10 for passengers. For more information, call 570-640-5246.

n Pottsville: A free Family Place parent/child workshop will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Pottsville Free Public Library, 215 W. Market St. It is a four-week program for children ages 1 to 3 and their parents and will feature visits by local experts in speech, nutrition, child development and physical activity as the children engage in free play and art, according to a library press release. Siblings are welcome and those planning to participate are asked to register by calling 570-622-8880.

n Pottsville: The D.H.H. Lengel Middle School Band will have its spring band concert at 7 p.m. May 10 in the middle school auditorium, 1541 W. Laurel Blvd. The concert is free and all are welcome. For more information, call 570-621-2035.

n Shenandoah: Shenandoah Community Watch meets at 6 p.m. the third Wednesday of every month at the Anthony P. Damato American Legion “Medal of Honor” Post 792, 116 N. Main St. Meetings are open to the public and new members are always welcome. Gordon Slater, SCW president, has made repeated calls for more people to attend and become involved for the betterment of the community.

n Shenandoah: The annual Shenandoah Kielbasi Festival, featuring the homemade, non-commercial kielbasi-making contest, is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 21 on North Main Street, sponsored by the revitalization group Downtown Shenandoah Inc. For more information, call DSI at 570-462-2060.

n Tamaqua: St. John’s United Church of Christ, 150 Pine St., will have an Italian hoagie sale beginning at noon May 17. Hoagies are $6 each. To order in advance, call the church at 570-668-2573 by May 11. Advance orders are appreciated but not required. Pickups at the church will be from noon to 2 p.m. May 17.
