Woman arrested
for city burglary
A Pottsville woman is free on bail after being arrested by Pottsville police in connection with a burglary that was reported on April 22.
Police said information was received from a Pottsville man that his home was burglarized and jewelry had been stolen sometime over a two-month time frame.
The man reported discovering three gold rings, a gold necklace and a tennis bracelet were removed from two combination safes in his bedroom and that the items are valued at about $3,400, police said.
A subsequent investigation revealed the stolen jewelry had been sold at Cash and Trading in Pottsville and the seller was identified as Jennifer Renee Fenstemaker, 24, who said she paid $470 for the items, police said.
The jewelry was recovered by officers and returned to the victim, police said.
During an interview with investigators, police said, Fenstemaker admitted entering the home two times, taking the jewelry and then selling it at the Cash and Trading pawn shop.
A criminal complaint was prepared against Fenstemaker, charging her with two felony counts of burglary and two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property, police said.
On April 27, the woman was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, and released on $15,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing.
