If you love art, there are several upcoming events to indulge the senses.
The Walk In Art Center will feature an exhibition by two local folk artists now through June 24. Featured will be “Paper Cutting to Pisanki Eggs” by Peter Cieslukowski and Iconographer Kim Fritzges.
The Senior Art Gallery Exhibit will be presented at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. May 12. Thirty local seniors and the artwork they have created over the course of five weeks will be showcased. The work will be displayed for two weeks. Meet the artists at the free event, talk about the project and enjoy light refreshments.
The Arts Barn’s third annual Collaborative Art Show Fundraiser and Auction is slated for May 15 at the Schuylkill Country Club in Orwigsburg. There will be unique art, appetizers and drinks and music. Doors open at 2 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased for $25 by calling 570-366-8736.
Schuylkill on the Move invites you to join them for an Orchid Adventure to discover lady slippers and intriguing stones at 1 p.m. May 15. Meet at the old Schoolhouse Auction on Route 924 for the easy three-mile trek. Call 570-622-4124 for details.
The Tamaqua Area Community Theatre proudly presents “Cinderella, Retold as a Musical Play” on May 20 and 21. General admission tickets are $8 and available at the box office or by going online to tamaquaarts.org.
The 24th annual National Stamp Out Hunger Day by the National Association of Letter Carriers will be held on Saturday. Since 1992, 1.4 billion pounds of food have been collected and distributed. Last year, 35 million donations were collected. Why not pick up a few extra cans of food the next time you’re in the grocery store and leave them in your mailbox on May 14 for those in need.
The Bear Creek Festival will be held from noon to 4 p.m. May 15 at the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds, Summit Station. Celebrate all things environmental, outdoors, natural and agricultural in Schuylkill County. Free admission, activities and parking.
The Schuylkill Mall Goes to the Dogs on May 15 to benefit the Ruth M. Steinert SPCA. Pet photos, meet search and rescue and carting dogs, dance with your dog, and agility and rally-o demo are just some of the pet friendly activities.
