n Frackville: The Friendship Fire Company Auxiliary is sponsoring a bus trip to Atlantic City on Aug. 13. The cost is $35 and reservations are being accepted on a first-come basis. For more information, call Kathy at 570-874-3531.

n Hegins: The Tri-Valley Community Band will hold its fourth annual spring concert at 2 p.m. June 5 at the Tri-Valley High School Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door. The band is made up of primarily adult musicians from the Tri-Valley area directed by David Schmaldienst. The purpose of organizing the band, according to a press release, is “to establish a performing group, pulling from the wealth of instrumental musicians in and from the Tri-Valley area.” People from the area, graduated from, moved to or are affiliated with the Tri-Valley community are welcome to participate in the group. n Mahanoy City: The Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite — Tridentine Latin Mass — will be celebrated at St. Cecilia Chapel, South Catawissa Street, at 3 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Edward B. Connolly. Latin-English missals will be provided to assist in praying the Mass. Afterward, there will be a time of fellowship in the chapel hall. n Pine Grove: The Pine Grove Wesleyan Church, 74 Bethel Road, will have Deep Sea Discovery Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. July 31 for youngsters age 3 through seventh grade. The five-night event is free. For more information, call 570-728-3137.

n Saint Clair: Monsignor William F. Glosser, pastor of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church and dean of the Schuylkill Deanery of the Diocese of Allentown, has chartered a bus for the Oct. 20 Diocesan Pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Rotary Club has an ongoing program of providing American flags in honor of relatives or friends who are serving or have served in the armed forces. The cost is $20 per flag and the banners will be displayed in the borough throughout the year and for holidays. Those who buy flags will receive certificates from the Rotary acknowledging the memory or honor contribution. The Rotarians hope the project will eliminate weathering of the community’s patriotic display flags. n Tamaqua: The Black Diamond Writers’ Network will meet from 10 a.m. to noon June 18 at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St. The focus will be talking in front of a crowd. Anne Franke and Joe Zuk of the Kutztown Area Toastmasters will make the presentation. The toastmasters is a respected training ground for professionals and the general public to improve their public speaking skills. n Tremont: The Tremont Area Free Public Library, 139 Clay St., will have a Chinese auction from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 26. The cost is $4 a sheet. There will be a special prize table and a grand prize table. A shop-and-drop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. June 25. The site is air conditioned and accessible to the handicapped.
