ELIZABETHVILLE — A Lykens man is headed to Dauphin County Court after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing Jan. 20 on charges stemming from an alleged burglary and vandalism of a church in September 2015 in his hometown.
George E. Jones, 29, of 602 Pine St., faces two counts of conspiracy and one each of burglary, institutional vandalism, criminal mischief and theft. Magisterial District Judge Rebecca J. Margerum bound over those charges for court after Jones waived his right to the hearing.
State police at Lykens alleged Jones broke into Lykens United Methodist Church on Sept. 9, 2015.
Lykens borough and Wiconisco Township police assisted in the investigation.
Jones is free on $10,000 straight cash bail pending further court action. His formal arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 26 in Harrisburg.

FRACKVILLE — A Shenandoah man charged with stealing an American flag and other items in Ashland on Oct. 11 or 12, 2015, waived his right to a hearing before Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale.
Christopher Brown, 33, whose last known address was 1301 W. Penn St., was arrested by Ashland police Patrolman Daniel Weikel III and charged with three misdemeanor counts each of theft and receiving stolen property.
By waiving his right to a hearing Brown will now have to answer to all six charges in Schuylkill County Court.
Weikel charged Brown for an incident at 1115 Market St., where June Manhart reported Brown, her nephew, stole several items from her including $400 in cash, several pills described as painkillers and an American flag in a display box.
Manhart reported that the American flag had sentimental value to her since it was draped over her deceased brother’s coffin after World War II.

Justin T. Bendrick, 29, of 249 S. Spencer St., Frackville; withdrawn: aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. Waived for court: DUI, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.
Tyler J. Swantek, 23, of 443 N. Third St., Frackville; withdrawn: receiving stolen property, forgery and identity theft. Waived for court: theft.
