State police seek

stolen cellphone

HAMBURG — A cellphone was found and then stolen about 7 p.m. May 11 from the Wal-Mart parking lot at 1800 Tilden Ridge Drive in this Berks County borough.

State police at Hamburg said Jenni Blackmon, 36, of 164 N. Third St., Hamburg, unknowingly dropped her pink iPhone 5 while exiting her vehicle to enter Wal-Mart. The phone, valued at $158, was missing when she later returned to her vehicle.

The Wal-Mart surveillance footage shows a woman with dark hair getting out of a blue Ford Taurus parked next to Blackmon’s car. She seemed to pick the phone up off the ground, police said. She then got back into the Taurus and drove out of the parking lot.

Anyone with information on this theft is asked to call state police.

Police said that Harner tried to steal items valued at $314.27 from the store, ran to a vehicle in the parking lot but was stopped by officers and a state police trooper who were able to put the vehicle in park and turn off the ignition.

Police said Harner provided authorities with a false identification and was subsequently found with drug paraphernalia including two hypodermic needles, a spoon with burnt residue, 10 empty clear plastic bags, 13 other bags and two bags that contained a white powder.
