It may be cold outside but the Tamaqua Community Arts Center has so many activities, classes and events you won’t want to stay indoors.

TCAC is making things happen with new and exciting opportunities from music to pottery, from yoga to reading and writing, and so much more, for enthusiasts of all ages.

They invite you to join them this winter and spring as they host a variety of painting classes for children and adults, from their ever-popular paint and sip to full art instruction.

Kids Paint will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 6. Your child will paint an owl that expresses his unique personality. Class fee includes materials and snacks.

The Kids Varied Arts and Crafts classes are held every other Thursday and are appropriate for toddler through elementary ages. A $2 donation to defray costs is suggested, but not required. The next class will be held on Feb. 11.

USBORNE Books hosts a once a month fun night where kids can explore books, color and read. Participation fee includes snacks.

At Creative Eats — scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 13 — your child will make edible Valentine treats. Fee includes supplies and a take-home cheese cutter. Register by Feb. 4.

A Couples Paint and Sip will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12. Rhythm of Color is the theme. Fee includes materials and catered dinner per couple.

A Candy Bar Bingo will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 19. Admission fee is a full/king size candy bar.

A five-week Pysanka Egg Class will start on Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Learn the Ukrainian folk art of using wax and natural dyes. Use designs provided or create your own. Class is limited to 15. Class fee applies.

Additionally, they provide music and voice lessons, yarn and writers’ clubs, pottery and sculpture classes, chorus and special events. These are but a few of the dozens of activities they host. Check out their calendar for the complete listing of all their events and classes on their website at www.tamaquaarts.org. Registration can also be done on their website.

As a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, they gratefully accept donations of materials for arts and crafts classes and gladly welcome volunteers to set up for classes, workshops and concerts. Everything from selling tickets to refreshments, assisting with costumes, props and painting of theater sets, moving tables and chairs, and laying out paint brushes are the simple things volunteers accomplish to help make TCAC a living, thriving venue.
