TREMONT — A Pine Grove man was jailed after being arrested by Tremont police for a domestic assault about 7:56 p.m. Thursday in the borough.
Tremont police charged Bradley Scott Donton, 32, of 550 Deturksville Road, with two counts of terroristic threats and one count each of simple assault and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned on the charges by Magisterial District Judge David Rossi, Tremont, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $5,000 straight cash bail.
Patrolman John P. Borchick charged Donton with an incident at 104 Clay St. involving his girlfriend, Amanda Madenford, 28.
Borchick said he was called to the area for a report of a domestic incident involving a knife and found Donton trying to put the couple’s 1-year-old child in his truck while Madenford was yelling “he’s trying to take my kid.”
Borchick said he ordered Donton to put his hands on his truck and although the man complied he kept turning around, taking his hands off his truck and yelling obscenities. The man resisted commands and, fearing for possible bodily injury, Borchick said he deployed his Taser weapon and took the man into custody.
After being placed in a police cruiser, Borchick said Donton continued to show signs of anger and continued his use of obscene language.
When interviewed, Borchick said, Madenford told him that Donton came to the house, the two began to argue and he grabbed her by the neck and pushed her into a kitchen counter, causing injuries to her neck and right hip.
The woman also reported that Donton threatened to kill her while throwing silverware at her and told her 8-year-old son if he left the house to get help he would beat him, Borchick said.
The 8-year-old reported Donton was beating his mother and confirmed the woman’s story that Donton would beat him if he went for help, the officer said.
The children were not injured and Borchick said Madenford was evaluated by EMS for her injuries and Donton for being hit with the Taser and that both refused treatment.
Donton will now have to appear for a preliminary hearing before Rossi in his Tremont courtroom.
