n Frackville: A free program titled “Eat Right When Money is Tight” by Penn State Extension Nutrition will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 16 and run five weeks at the Frackville Free Public Library, 56 N. Lehigh Ave. The workshop series includes planning meals on a limited budget, fixing food safely, how much and what people should eat and how to make healthful choices for food and beverages. n Gordon: Citizens Fire Company No. 1, Plane and Otto streets, will have a homemade soup and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 20. Soup is $7 per quart. There will also be pot pie, mac and cheese and other items as well as baked goods. All are welcome. The company will also have a fish fry dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. March 18. The cost is $9 per meal, which includes three pieces of fish, mac and cheese, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, roll, beverage and dessert.
n Minersville: The Minersville Public Library is sponsoring a Hollywood Casino bus trip on Feb. 15 with an 8 a.m. pickup at R&J Transportation and an 8:30 a.m. pickup at Rodnick’s, Minersville. n Tamaqua: The Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., is sponsoring a bus trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art on March 13. The bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $55 per person and includes chartered transportation and admission to the Museum of Art. Internationally known artist Joseph Marioni, a Tamaqua man with a studio in the borough, will meet with the group and talk about his exhibit, inspiration and style, according to a press release.
