n Frackville: An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, 48 S. Nice St., sponsored by the church and the Frackville Rotary Club. People 17 and older (16 with parental consent), weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health are urged to donate blood. The drive is open to the public and walk-ins are welcome. n Girardville: Girardville/Ashland Teener League sign-ups will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today and Saturday in Girardville borough hall.

n Mahanoy City: Good American Fire Company, Eighth Street and Mahanoy Avenue, will host a seafood dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the firehouse. The cost is $9 per meal and choices include fish, shrimp or deviled crab. Patrons may eat at the firehouse or take meals out. For more information, call 570-773-3473.

n Mahanoy City: Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church is sponsoring a bus trip to Hollywood Casino on March 17. The bus will depart at 9 a.m. from the former Service Electric parking lot and leave at 4:30 p.m. from the casino for the return trip. The cost is $21, which includes a $30 rebate for slot play and $5 food voucher. For reservations or more information, call Sylvia at 570-773-3628. The deadline is March 4. Proceeds will benefit the church.

n New Philadelphia: The Blythe Township Senior Citizens group meets at 1 p.m. the third Monday of every month in the Holy Cross Parish Center, Lombard Street. New members are welcome. The next meeting is Feb. 15. For more information, call Mary at 570-874-3535.

n New Philadelphia: The borough council recently approved its 2016 budget of $416,184.75 with no tax increase. In other business, the council added two officers to its police roster: Harry Brown and Officer Zachary Malls. The borough also teamed up with Schuylkill Trout Unlimited and Schuylkill Headwaters Association to develop the pond area and create a fish habitat in the creek by the Little League field. The project includes a handicapped ramp and possible walking trail. The first Crime Watch meeting of the year will be held at 7 p.m. March 16 at Good Intent Fire Company. Janene Holter from the state attorney general’s office will serve as guest speaker and present a program on identity theft. The public is invited to attend.

n Pottsville: The Schuylkill Deanery Holy Name Society will sponsor weekly Stations of the Cross at local Roman Catholic churches during Lent. Churches, dates and times include: Holy Cross, New Philadelphia, 6 p.m. Feb. 12; St. Patrick, Pottsville, 7 p.m. Feb. 19; Most Blessed Trinity, Tremont, 7 p.m. Feb. 26; St. Matthew the Evangelist, Minersville, 6 p.m. March 1; St. Richard, Barnesville, 6 p.m. March 2. n Saint Clair: The Saint Clair Senior Citizens organization will not meet in February. Its next meeting is set for noon March 9 at the Alert Fire Company, 34 S. Second St. Members should bring their own lunch. Guests and new members are welcome. For more information, call John at 570-622-5757.

n Shenandoah: The revitalization group Downtown Shenandoah Inc. will stage a soup-and-sausage sale beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday at the DSI downtown center, 116 N. Main St. Soup is $5 per quart and $2.50 per pint and sausage hoagies are $3.50 each. Soup flavors include chili, pasta fagiole, split pea, beef vegetable, New England clam chowder, chicken noodle and kielbasi.

n Sheppton: St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 14 E. Oak St., will have an Ash Wednesday soup and bleenie sale beginning at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the rectory garage. The cost is $1 per bleenie and $6 for a quart of soup. For more information, call 570-889-3850.
