LAVELLE — One man is homeless after fire destroyed his mobile home in Barry Township on Monday morning.

Firefighters from Lavelle and surrounding areas were called at 4:13 a.m. to 321 Airport Road and found the one-floor home fully engulfed in flames.

Lavelle Fire Chief Jason Reichwein said the building was totally destroyed and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Reichwein said the sole occupant of the home, Robert Green, was home when the fire broke out but was able to escape without injury.

The chief said that a state police fire marshal was called in to assist in trying to find what sparked the blaze.

Reichwein said PPL was contacted to disconnect power to the building and all fire units cleared the scene about 7:30 a.m.

Assisting Lavelle firefighters were volunteers from Gordon, Fountain Springs and Hegins. Ashland EMS was also at the scene, but no injuries were reported.
