In the last three months of 2015, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign received $90,406 in itemized individual contributions from Northeastern Pennsylvania, according to Federal Election Commission reports.

It brings her total from the region to $375,840 — the most by far donated to a presidential campaign. The regional total to all presidential campaigns is $524,843, with $120,183 going to Republicans.

Chelsea Clinton is coming to Shavertown on Monday to raise more money from the region for her mother’s presidential campaign. Entrepreneur Kristopher Jones is hosting the event at his home.

Clinton had two fundraisers in Scranton last year and has ties to the area. Her late father, Hugh Rodham, grew up in Scranton and as a child she spent summers at a family cottage at Lake Winola.

Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s opponent in the Democratic primaries and caucuses, reported $24,271 in itemized individual contributions from the region. Sanders has focused on raising money through donations of less than $200, which are not itemized on FEC reports.

Sanders raised $74.3 million nationally with $54 million from unitemized contributions, according to FEC records on campaign finances through Dec. 31, 2015. Clinton raised $112 million with almost $19 million from unitemized contributions.

People who donate more than $200 are required to list their names and occupations on FEC reports. The FEC uses zip codes to total itemized individual contributions. If an individual gives to a campaign multiple times for a total more than $200 during an election cycle, the excess is itemized while the original $200 remains unitemized.

The FEC reports on presidential campaigns also don’t include funds from super PACs, which can raise and spend unlimited sums in support of a candidate but are prohibited from coordinating with a candidate’s campaign.

The maximum donation allowed from an individual directly to a candidate’s campaign is $2,700 each for the 2016 primary and General Election. The maximum for political and party committees is $5,000.

Ben Carson reported $33,696 in individual itemized contributions from Northeastern Pennsylvania — the most for a Republican candidate.

Republican frontrunner Donald Trump reported $2,977 in itemized individual contributions from Northeastern Pennsylvania. Trump has so far rejected financial support from big-money donors, claiming he can fund his own campaign with his own personal wealth.
