n Frackville: Orders are being taken now for a homemade Easter paska bread sale sponsored by Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, 209 S. Lehigh Ave. People may choose plain or raisin. To order or for more information, call 570-874-0732.

n Hometown: Marian High School is accepting applications for enrollment for the 2016-17 school year. The application fee for incoming freshmen, according to a school press release, is $125. Transfer grants are available to upper classmen. Application forms are available at the school or can be found at the school’s website at www.mariancatholichs.org under the “Admissions” tab. The Board of General Jurisdiction at Marian High School recently voted to have the tuition rate reflect no increase for the upcoming school year, according to the release, which added that Marian has a shadowing program for any student in public school who is interested in seeing what Marian is about. To set up a shadow date, call the studies office at the aforementioned number.

n Pottsville: The Schuylkill County Council for the Arts, 1440 Mahantongo St., will sponsor a book signing of “Sheppton: The Myth, Miracle and Music” documenting the 1963 Sheppton Mine Disaster, from 1 to 3 p.m. March 5. n Pottsville: The Anthracite Philharmonic will present “Bravo of Broadway” from 3 to 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at the former Yuengling Mansion, 1440 Mahantongo St. Singers will include vocalists from the Schuylkill Society and the MINOR Notes children’s chorus. The cost is $10 per person. A dessert social will follow the concert. All are welcome. For more information, call 570-640-1472.

n Sacramento: A Chinese auction to benefit the family of Mike Wolfgang will be held from noon to 5 p.m. March 6 at Sacramento Community Fire Company, 2206 E. Main St. The proceeds will help pay medical expenses. Doors will open at noon for tickets and refreshments, with the auction to begin at 2 p.m. Tickets will be accepted early for those who cannot attend March 6. Winners do not need to be present to claim their prize, but pickup will need to be scheduled. A preview of the auction will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. March 5. n Schuylkill Haven: St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Parish will sponsor “Bingo Bonanza” from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 28 in the parish center, 201 Randel St. The cost is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Items will include gift cards, Pampered Chef, Thirty One and others. There will also be raffles, 50/50s and a chance table. There will be a special raffle for advance ticket holders. n Shenandoah: St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church, Chestnut and Oak streets, has a soup sale on its agenda and is also taking orders for Easter bread. The takeout-only soup sale will be from noon to sellout Sunday in the church hall. Soups are $7 per quart and a variety of soups and bread will be available. For more information, call 570-462-0809. Varieties of Easter bread available include nut, poppy, apricot or poppy/raisin rolls at $13 each, and paska, plain or raisin, at $8.50 each. n Tremont: The Tremont Area Free Public Library, 19 N. Pine St., will have a cold soup sale from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the library.
