Police investigate

hand tools theft

PATTERSONVILLE — Someone removed a utility wagon containing various hand tools valued at $130 from a Union Township man’s property, state police at Frackville said.

Police said a person cut a chain on an entry gate to access property of Daniel Michael Wowak, 34, sometime between 3 and 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday near Shenandoah and Jerry’s roads. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction by an unknown means.

Car passenger

injured in crash

AUBURN — An Auburn woman who was a passenger in a car that crashed on Hickory Drive on Saturday suffered unknown injury, state police at Schuylkill Haven said.

Mark A. Leib, 22, of Auburn, was driving a 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix about 5:20 p.m. southbound on Hickory Drive just north of Route 895, police said, when Leib’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a ditch about 30 feet off the roadway.

His passenger, Morgan R. Scheifley, 22, of Auburn, was not wearing her seatbelt and suffered unknown injury, police said.

Leib’s car sustained disabling damage and came to final rest in the ditch facing south. Leib was charged with failure to driving on roadways laned for traffic.

Police were assisted at the scene by Schuylkill EMS, Auburn Fire Company and Always Towing.

driver not injured

DEER LAKE — A Williams

town truck driver hauling spring water received a minor injury when his vehicle crashed Saturday in West Brunswick Township, state police at Schuylkill Haven said.

Police said Randy L. Morgan, 52, was driving southbound at 9:40 a.m. in the right lane after turning left off Route 895. As Morgan was turning, he lost control of the 2010 Peterbilt and the trailer began to yaw across both lanes of Route 61 and onto the southbound shoulder.

After about 135 feet, the passenger side rear trailer tire area struck the metal guard rail along the shoulder of Route 61. After the impact, Morgan’s truck flipped onto its passenger side and traveled about 45 feet south on top of the guard rail before coming to final rest, facing southeast on its passenger side on top of the guard rail. The power unit was on the southbound shoulder and the trailer was in the front yard of 1 Rolling Glen Ave.

Morgan was able to extricate himself from the vehicle, police said. He was wearing a lap and shoulder belt, police said.

A summary traffic citation of driving at a safe speed will be filed against Morgan with District Magisterial Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.

Assisting at the scene were Reading and Northern Railroad Police Department, Deer Lake and West Brunswick Township Fire Department and Auburn EMS.

No injuries

in 1-car crash

FRACKVILLE — State police at Frackville are investigating a one-car crash in Blythe Township.

Police said Sanije Sylaj, 45, of Frackville, was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla at 11:04 a.m. Saturday, southbound on Route 61, south of Mall Road. Sylaj was traveling in the left lane when he lost control of the vehicle while following a curve in the roadway and struck a guard rail on the eastern berm with the car’s front end.

Sylaj’s vehicle came to final rest just south of the point of impact facing south. Sylaj, and a 17-year-old male who was a front seat passenger, were not injured, police said.

Sylaj will be cited in the crash.

Police were assisted at the scene by Hoffman’s Towing. Blythe Township police were not working at the time of the crash.
