n Pottsville: David Krishingner, a lifelong member of the Lions Club who recently relocated to Pottsville, was the featured speaker during a recent club meeting and began by noting that Lionism is “service to the community.” He said Lions “must be committed to actively pursue this mission as we come up with projects (and) new initiatives that reach out and touch the community in positive ways and build upon, not just a tradition, but an action that sets the example for others to follow.” He also spoke about his time as a member of the Kerrville, Texas, Lions Club and the projects that the club engaged in, including flying underprivileged and handicapped children to camp. He said he was honored to have been selected to attend the 2012 Lions International meeting in Pusan, South Korea. He challenged members of the Pottsville Lions to come up with a project that will not only enhance and build the community but will also, in itself, help attract a new generation of Lions who will then carry on the heritage and traditions established by the club.

n Schuylkill Haven: The Vraj Youth Committee, which is part of the Vraj Hindu Temple, 15 Manor Road, will host a community outreach program from 2 to 4 p.m. March 26. The event, according to a Vraj press release, will include an Easter egg hunt, games, candy, food, prizes and other activities. It will be “an opportunity for the local community to get to know Vraj better,” according to the release.
