Almost two years after the announcement of their merger, three fire companies in two counties now join as one.
In a release issued Sunday, Tresckow Fire Company has joined McAdoo and Keystone as KMT Emergency Services after court papers were officially signed on Jan. 8.
The move comes after decreasing membership allowed volunteers to come together and make a decision which they believed was best for the people they serve.
The three companies, who are now known under the McAdoo name, still serve McAdoo Borough as well as Kline and Banks townships.
According to a September article in The Republican-Herald, McAdoo’s original social club on West Blaine Street, is still in tact and the garage is used for storage.
Through the cooperation of McAdoo Borough, they were also able to mill land next to the Keystone building to house trucks and equipment. Some equipment — including the Keystone Fire Company engine — was sold last month to reduce duplication of services.
Tresckow Fire Company is no longer associated with their social hall which has since changed its name, becoming a separate entity altogether.
KMT Emergency Services has also received a $10,000 grant from the state Department of Community and Economic Development to help cover the legal costs of the merger.
“We would like to thank volunteers, the communities we serve and the media for their continued support,” a news release said.
