PORT CARBON — A Pottsville man charged with having a weapon on property of the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 in Norwegian Township on Nov. 9, 2015, had a charge against him held for court during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko.
Cody S. Morris, 18, of 305 Mahantongo St., was arrested by state police Trooper Joseph Hall of the Schuylkill Haven station and charged with one misdemeanor count of possession of a weapon on school property.
Plachko determined the commonwealth proved a prima facie case and ordered the charge held for Schuylkill County Court.
Hall charged Morris, a student at the IU 29, with having a knife on school property. He said a teacher saw Morris running out the door to his bus when a large knife with a black handle fell out of his pocket.
The teacher stepped on the knife so Morris could not pick it up, Hall said, adding that when Morris was interviewed he said he obtained the knife from another student and could not give a reason why he had it in school.
