A Tamaqua man had drugs in his possession when he allegedly broke into borough homes Monday morning, according to court papers.
Albert M. Shaw, 32, was charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property, two counts possession of a controlled substance and three counts each of burglary and criminal trespass by Tamaqua police.
He was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, who set bail at 10 percent of $50,000, which Shaw was immediately unable to post and so, was taken to jail.
Police arrested him after being called to a break-in in progress at 412, 414 and 416 E. Cottage Ave., a row house. A witness told police she approached the intruder after seeing him take items out of the residences but he took off on his bicycle, according to arrest papers.
Officers checked the area but couldn’t find the suspect about 9:30 a.m. About 10 minutes later, officers found the suspect was back in the neighborhood and took Shaw into custody, arrest papers state.
When police searched him, they found a vial with crystal methamphetamine in it and $318, police wrote. In a backpack Shaw denied was his, they found what appeared to be marijuana in a small glass jar, a digital scale and 66 Alprazolam prescription pills, court papers state.
