Pottsville police on Tuesday released a description of a man they are looking for in connection with a robbery and assault in the city Saturday afternoon.
Police said officers were called to 613 Harrison St. about 12:30 p.m. for a report of a 24-year-old Pottsville man being assaulted by a man known to him as “M-Dot.”
The man told officers that M-Dot struck him with a closed fist causing a visible injury and produced a knife while verbally demanding that he hand over his cellphone that the man did, police said.
“M-Dot” fled the area and police said officers later identified him as Marquese Lamar “M-Dot” Whitted, 30, of Orwigsburg.

Police: Man tried
to pass fake urine
Pottsville police charged a Pine Grove man in connection with an incident at the Schuylkill County Adult Probation Office on North Third Street about 11:20 a.m. April 11.
Police said officers were called to the office for a report of a man trying to pass a fake urine specimen. Probation officer Brian Shannon reported that Bryan T. Evans, 29, attempted to provide a sample for analysis that had been contained in a plastic bottle that he had hidden in his clothing.
After this was discovered, police said, Evans was being monitored by Adult Probation Officer Charles Begansky when he made comments that he wasn’t going to jail and then made an attempt to discard the bottle, grabbing it and throwing it into the toilet and attempting to flush it away, police said.
However, police said that before Evans could do so, he was stopped by Begansky and told that he was being arrested.
Police said that when Begansky attempted to place Evans in handcuffs, the man physically resisted and had to be restrained by officers who had to use force to place him under arrest.
Evans was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on an adult probation detainer and Pottsville police charged him with furnishing drug-free urine, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest.
