Clarks Summit actor Robert Thomas Hughes will do a dramatic reading that he authored. Mitchell is the United Mine Workers president who led the charge in securing better wages and working conditions for anthracite coal miners. He visited Shenandoah during the coal strike of 1902, also known as the anthracite coal strike, which was an action by the United Mine Workers of America seeking higher wages and shorter workdays for miners as well as recognition of the union.
